James Harden begins 2020 in a new headband

It's 2020, and James Harden remains one of the best basketball players in the world.

The scoring machine started the new year with a new look in the Rockets 118-108 win over the Sixers, Thursday night. In a headband and new braided-hairstyle, Harden totaled 44 points, 11 assists, and ten rebounds. He also added a block and steal to the statline.

Sporting a new headband, Harden's 43rd triple-double tied former Nuggets guard, Fat Lever, for eighth-most in the Association history.

"Headband Harden" has somewhat become a thing within the Rockets fan community. Back in November, Harden wore the headband in a 54-point performance against the Wizards, shooting 46% from three-point land.

During the game, NBA fans flooded Twitter with a barrage of tweets praising "Headband Harden." According to an internet source, the Rockets are 5-4 when Harden wears the band.

Formerly known for his beard, Harden is manufacturing another MVP type of season. Even with former scoring MVP, Russell Westbrook, sharing the backcourt with him, Harden averages 38 points, 7.5 assist, and 5.8 rebounds a contest. Fourteen times this season, he scored 40+ points, and the Rockets are undefeated in those games.

Rockets are 1st in the Southwest division and four games behind the Los Angeles Lakers for the best seed in the West. The Rockets will host the Lakers January 18th, which should be a stellar game.

James Harden holds 10-14 record against LeBron James, but he's never worn a headband in their matchups. 2020 started with Headband Harden, let's hope it continues.
